Steel Bridge Webinar Focuses on Infrastructure ROI
Free May 20 webinar examines steel bridge resilience and long-term transportation investment trends.

American Iron and Steel Institute, Short Span Steel Bridge Alliance and American Galvanizers Association will host a free webinar on May 20, 2026, at 2 p.m. EDT examining how steel bridge systems can help maximize transportation infrastructure investment and long-term asset performance.
The one-hour session, titled “How Steel Bridges Maximize Transportation Investment,” is being held during United for Infrastructure 2026. Presenters will discuss resilient bridge design strategies, corrosion protection systems and policy considerations tied to federal infrastructure funding.
Topics will include the approaching expiration of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, the importance of maintaining a stable Highway Trust Fund and the role Buy America provisions play in supporting domestic steel production and manufacturing capacity. The webinar will also address how galvanized and steel bridge systems can extend service life, reduce maintenance demands and improve lifecycle value for transportation agencies.
Speakers include Brett Smith, senior director of government relations at the American Iron and Steel Institute; Dr. Michael Barker, professor of civil and architectural engineering at the University of Wyoming and director of education for the Short Span Steel Bridge Alliance; and John Krzywicki, marketing director at the American Galvanizers Association.
