DAP Launches Water-Clean Polyurethane Foam Sealant
DAP's HydroAction polyurethane foam seals gaps and cleans with water in just five minutes.

DAP has introduced Gaps & Cracks High Density Foam with HydroAction Polyurethane, a patent-pending expanding spray foam sealant that combines the strength and durability of polyurethane with the convenience of water cleanup.
Developed for professional contractors and advanced DIYers, the next-generation formula creates a durable air seal while allowing uncured foam to be wiped clean with water within five minutes of application.
Traditional polyurethane spray foams often leave behind sticky residue that requires chemical solvents or extensive cleanup when overspray occurs. DAP Gaps & Cracks addresses that challenge by providing a five-minute cleanup window using only water, making it well suited for finished interiors and other spaces where maintaining a clean work area is essential.
"Contractors need products that perform without slowing them down, and cleanup has long been one of the biggest frustrations with spray foam," said Jake Jennings, product marketing manager at DAP. "Gaps & Cracks delivers excellent strength and air sealing performance while giving users the unique ability to wipe uncured foam clean with water within five minutes of application. It helps contractors seal the job quickly and move on with confidence."
DAP Gaps & Cracks is formulated to seal and insulate gaps up to 1 inch wide, helping reduce drafts and moisture intrusion while improving energy efficiency. The high-density polyurethane formula offers strong adhesion, lasting durability and all-season application in temperatures ranging from 25 to 105 degrees Fahrenheit.
Designed for multiple uses, the reusable foam is ideal for sealing around pipes, plumbing fixtures, exhaust vents, electrical outlet boxes, penetrations, attics, HVAC systems and ductwork, baseboards, sill plates and rim joists. It bonds to a variety of common building materials, including wood, drywall, gypsum, concrete, masonry, most metals, plastics and painted surfaces.
Within five minutes of application, uncured foam can be lifted, wiped away and dried with water on many nonporous surfaces, including finished hardwood flooring, porcelain tile, most metals, plastics, painted surfaces, vinyl and laminate.
"Gaps & Cracks is designed to solve a real jobsite challenge," Jennings added. "It delivers the performance professionals expect while helping reduce concerns about mess, cleanup time and leftover residue. Users can achieve a durable air seal while keeping finished spaces cleaner."
DAP Gaps & Cracks High Density Foam with HydroAction Polyurethane is available in an off-white, 12-ounce spray can through Do it Best, True Value and Paint Supply, with additional retail availability expected.
