Spackle Cartoonist Dave Coverly Unleashes New Canine Comic Book
W&C contributing cartoonist Dave Coverly celebrates dogs with a hilarious new comic collection.
Award-winning cartoonist Dave Coverly, the longtime creator of the nationally syndicated Speed Bump comic panel and the official cartoonist for Walls & Ceilings magazine since 2000 with his comic Spackle, has released a new collection celebrating man's best friend.
"My Support Dog Ate My Comfort Food: A Collection of Canine Comics" brings together Coverly's favorite dog-themed cartoons from the past decade, capturing the humor, quirks and unconditional companionship that have made dogs one of his most beloved subjects. From imagined Westminster Dog Show after-parties to the philosophical mysteries behind squeaky toys, the collection showcases the wit and observational humor that have defined Speed Bump for more than 30 years.
For readers of W&C, Coverly's name is already a familiar one. Since 2000, he has served as the magazine's official cartoonist, providing readers with his signature blend of clever humor and offbeat perspectives that have become a fixture of the publication.
Beyond the construction industry, Coverly's work reaches millions through Speed Bump, which appears in hundreds of newspapers and publications, including The Washington Post, Los Angeles Times and Detroit Free Press. A four-time National Cartoonists Society "Best Newspaper Panel" winner, he also received the organization's prestigious Reuben Award as Outstanding Cartoonist of the Year in 2009.
Coverly also serves as principal illustrator for BarkBox and actively supports animal welfare organizations, including PETA and Humane World for Animals. He lives and works in Ann Arbor, Mich., where he creates his cartoons from an attic studio, often with inspiration from his old dog Macy (RIP).
