We are fond of imposing broad, sweeping technical rules in the gypsum industry. 

 Proprietary board and panel products exist, gypsum board is generally considered to be a commodity building material. 

 Contractors and building owners must remain vigilant in pursuing the best and most efficient methods for completing projects on time and within budget—in good economic times or bad.

Five years ago sculptor Janos Stone discovered gypsum board by walking past some scraps near a building site, and he’s been pushing the limits of the material in his sculptures ever since. 

 For as long as I am permitted to hang around in the gypsum industry, I doubt I will see anything like the enormous salad bowl that a contractor created using metal studs and gypsum board.  

 It was not all that long ago that mold was seen as “the next asbestos”: an issue that could drive large amounts of litigation with substantial damages.  

 Mankind’s ability to leave the cave, raise a shelter of stones or reeds, and coat that shelter with an earthen plaster, enabled him to create the “cave” wherever he desired.
