EIMA has joined with its industry allies in protesting the manner in which a report of Underwriters Laboratories has been allowed be used as the basis for a code change that would essentially ban the use of foam insulation for EIFS and other exterior wall cladding such as vinyl siding.
Orlando is the site of the 2016 Annual Meeting of the EIFS Industry Members Association on May 4-6. This year’s new format will be held in Florida and adds an extra day to the meeting to accommodate all the activities that are lined up.
The potential problem is that Home Depot is selling a non-code compliant reinforcing mesh, and like all EIFS components, this mesh must meet requirements of ASTEM E2568.
