Building on its workwear collections announced in 2023, Milwaukee enhanced its workwear portfolio to include women’s job site apparel. This new expansion combines the performance and comfort that tradeswomen need on the job in an optimally tailored fit.

Renee Ann Conrad Cieslikowski, 70, of Lake Wylie, South Carolina, passed away peacefully this October in Charlotte, North Carolina, with her husband, Mark, by her side. Many Walls & Ceilings readers knew her through her lengthy tenure at National Gypsum as its marketing manager before her retirement several years ago.

The eighth annual Lehigh Valley Let’s Build Construction Camp for Girls was held this summer in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. ATAS has been a supporter of this camp from the beginning, with monetary and material donations, along with several employees who helped in the planning and execution of the camp.

The Department of Labor announced the award of $6 million in funding to help recruit, train and retain more women in quality pre-apprenticeship and Registered Apprenticeship programs, as well as nontraditional occupations.

The New York chapter of Professional Women in Construction, a nonprofit organization that supports career-minded women and works to promote diversity within the architecture, engineering, construction and related industries, held its annual Salute to Women of Achievement on Sept. 18, recognizing professionals at the highest levels of the AEC industry.

S-5!, together with National Women in Roofing, is sponsoring a new scholarship program to empower women who wish to pursue educational opportunities in the skilled trades. The initiative aims to support women in their journey toward successful careers in the trades and contributing to the overall advancement of the construction industry.

This month, Bell Fuels president Stella Gaytan will convene a public and industry panel discussion to bring women in the trades together for an evening of community and discussion.

As part of the summer-long, all-girls construction camp MyWIC, middle school and high school girls will visit Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia on Thursday, Aug. 1, at 9:45 a.m. to participate in the Skilled Trades All-Star Program.

Later this summer, construction is set to begin in New Jersey’s capital city on a new base of operations for Homeworks Trenton, a free, community-based, after-school boarding program for marginalized girls.

Baker Construction, Gilbane Building Co., McKissack & McKissack, Mortenson, Power Design, Suffolk, and Shawmut Design and Construction are the initial signatories of the Commerce Department’s new Million Women in Construction Community Pledge.
