The 10th annual ACI Excellence in Concrete Construction Awards showcased dozens of innovative concrete projects from around the world.

Registration is now open for the premier industry education program, STAFDA’s Excellence in Distribution. The Specialty Tools & Fasteners Distributors Association has created a focused, 2.5-day educational program designed specifically for professionals in the construction, industrial and supply chain industries.

Gary Prinz, Ph.D., P.E., professor and director of the Grady E. Harvell Civil Engineering Research and Education Center at the University of Arkansas, was recently selected as the recipient of the 2024 Robert J. Dexter Memorial Award Lecture by the Steel Bridge Task Force of the American Iron and Steel Institute and presented his research — which is focused on fracture, fatigue and the service life of steel bridge structures — at a task force meeting in Charlotte, North Carolina.

The American Concrete Institute recognized several individuals for their outstanding contributions and dedication to ACI and the concrete industry. The Fall 2024 awardees consist of personal and paper award winners who were recognized at the ACI Concrete Convention on Nov. 3-6 in Philadelphia.

Entries are now being accepted for the Ceilings and Interior Systems Construction Association’s 2025 Construction Excellence Awards.

The Rainscreen Association in North America announced the winners of the inaugural RAiNA Awards, recognizing outstanding achievements in rainscreen design and innovation. The award ceremony, which was held on Nov. 7 in Chicago, celebrated projects that exemplify creativity, technical excellence and sustainability in building envelope performance.

The Gypsum Association announced that ASTM International has recognized GA director of codes, standards and research Michael Schmeida, MSc, LEED AP, with an ASTM Award of Merit and the title of Fellow.

The Michel Bakhoum International Collaboration Award, founded in 2024, honors the memory of Prof. Michel Bakhoum, an ACI member and internationally known structural engineer, researcher and educator.

The Steel Bridge Task Force, which is comprised of the American Iron and Steel Institute, the National Steel Bridge Alliance, and the American Association of State and Highway Transportation Officials Steel and Metals Technical Committee, has named David Stoddard, senior steel applications engineer at SSAB Americas, as the recipient of the 2024 Alexander D. Wilson Memorial Award.

On Oct. 2, the Center for the Polyurethanes Industry of the American Chemistry Council announced the recipients of two prestigious industry awards – the 2024 Polyurethane Innovation Award and the 2024 Distinguished Leadership Award.
