ATAS International’s website was honored with the Award of Distinction by the Communicator Awards, a leading global awards program honoring creative excellence for marketing and communications professionals. Founded three decades ago, the Communicator Awards is an annual competition recognizing the best in advertising, corporate communications, public relations and design.

Following the record destruction caused by Typhoon Yagi, the strongest typhoon to hit Vietnam in the past 30 years, Simpson Strong-Tie is donating $10,000 to the International Federation of Red Cross, processed through the American Red Cross.

At the 31st annual Lehigh Valley Commercial and Industrial Real Estate awards breakfast, Dick Bus of ATAS International, Inc., received the Person of the Year award. It was presented to Bus on Oct. 25 at the ArtsQuest Center at SteelStacks in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, during a sold-out event attended by approximately 450 Lehigh Valley professionals.

The Architectural Glass and Metal Certification Council, which sponsors and coordinates the North American Contractor Certification and Architectural Glass and Metal Technician programs, North America’s only third-party credentials for glazing contractors and glaziers, has entered into exploratory talks to identify collaboration opportunities with the National Glass Association, a provider of glass industry resources, such as MyGlassClass.com, technical manuals and industry events.

On Dec. 3, in a live ceremony held online, Don Allen, executive director of the Steel Framing Industry Association, announced the nine project winners of the 2024 SFIA Industry Project Awards.

On Oct. 30, Simpson Strong-Tie was honored to partner with the Valley Contractors Workforce Foundation, the nonprofit arm of the Valley Contractors Exchange, to raise walls for a new home in Paradise, California.

Armstrong World Industries announced that it has acquired A. Zahner Company. Based in Kansas City, Missouri, Zahner is a widely recognized leader in the design, engineering and fabrication of highly crafted, complex architectural metal solutions and products.

Gary Prinz, Ph.D., P.E., professor and director of the Grady E. Harvell Civil Engineering Research and Education Center at the University of Arkansas, was recently selected as the recipient of the 2024 Robert J. Dexter Memorial Award Lecture by the Steel Bridge Task Force of the American Iron and Steel Institute and presented his research — which is focused on fracture, fatigue and the service life of steel bridge structures — at a task force meeting in Charlotte, North Carolina.

As an accredited ANSI Standards Development Organization, the Steel Framing Industry Association invites individuals to participate in the development of standards for cold-formed steel framing. Interested individuals are required to complete a survey, which is due no later than Nov. 29.
