With 14 volunteers and 128 hours, USGBS Minnesota devoted their own energy to partner with Carbon Zero Home, a nonprofit that transforms dysfunctional, energy-wasting homes into smart, efficient solutions to the climate problem. Volunteers from BASF Corp. assisted USGBC Minnesota with waterproofing and sealing a home to make it more energy-efficient.

Newly constructed in South Russell, Ohio, a care center and assisted living facility for people living with Alzeheimer's Disease. The building project is an important addition both architecturally and academically, according to Ray Varela, architect in charge for Carrier Johnson + CULTURE. “New majors and collaborative research opportunities are housed in the new two-story science complex,” Varela adds. “This is a significant expansion to the academic space at Point Loma Nazarene University, which is known for its excellent science department and successful student placements in medical schools.”

Atlas Roofing is supporting a group of Canadian-based wildlife biologists this summer on their expedition to study the whale and dolphin species of the Gulf of St. Lawrence. Led by Katy Gavrilchuk and David Gaspard, in association with a non-profit organization, The Mingan Island Cetacean Study, the expedition will focus on the long-term monitoring of large baleen whales on an important summer feeding ground.

The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio renovation project presented layout space restrictions, trade overlap, tight schedule requirements, and close proximity to occupied spaces. MK Marlow Company LLC, the framing and gypsum contractor, depended on Radius Track Corp. from the beginning by inviting the framing design expert to bid coordination meetings which were held via web-based video conference.

The final tier of “Design ‘N Gather 2016” (DNG), the international mosaic design competition sponsored by Bostik and Artaic Innovative Mosaic concluded with another high note at the annual AIA Convention, May 19-21 in Philadelphia.
