Before there was topical crystalline waterproofing, there was integral crystalline waterproofing. Or better stated, if integral crystalline waterproofing is used, topical application may be unnecessary. In my last article (“Krystolize to Waterproof,” W&C, February 2006), I discussed the uses and advantages of crystalline technology as a surface-applied waterproofing option. In this article, I’ll touch on crystalline technology as applied internally, or actually within poured concrete.

The Carolina’s Lathing and Plastering Contractors Association held its 10th annual convention Oct. 26 through 28, at the Kingston Plantation Resort, in N. Myrtle Beach, S.C. The event was well attended, with exhibitors on hand to show their freshest wares. AWCI’s “EIFS-Doing It Right” training was again held during the show, with 16 tradesmen enrolled.
Our region (Carolinas) has had an extreme amount of rain/moisture in the last year. This was preceded by about five years of drought conditions. The result is people are experiencing water or waterproofing problems they have never seen before now. Fifteen-year-old houses that never showed signs of problems are springing leaks.
