Chicago-based A.L.P. Lighting Components Inc. has announced that it purchased the majority of louver manufacturing tooling and equipment from the former American Louver of Canada. This equipment is currently being moved to the company’s Lithia Springs, Ga., metals manufacturing facility where it will be evaluated and installed over the next two months. The expansion will provide A.L.P. with added capacity on volume louver and baffle parts as well as the ability to provide additional custom items.

Once a review of assets has been conducted by A.L.P.’s manufacturing and tooling experts, company officials expect to provide a more detailed reporting of implementation timelines and product availability to its customers.

“In challenging economic environments like today, we are exploring every option to improve our ability to provide value to our customers,” said Steve Brown, CEO of A.L.P. “With this added capacity, we hope to manage volume more efficiently, reduce lead time, and become an even more flexible supplier when our customers come to us with opportunities.”

A.L.P.’s Lithia Springs plant, outside of Atlanta, has been a site of much investment in recent years, growing from a small louver stamping operation to a 125,000 square-foot cutting-edge manufacturing and distribution facility following the acquisition of Steel Craft Industries in 2004. The facility currently features nearly a dozen state-of-the art presses, as well as variable bending and fabrication equipment.
