Kingspan Insulated Panels North America has announced that its Director of Sustainability and Environment, Paul Bertram Jr., FCSI, CDT, LEED AP, will be a featured presenter at two building industry events this fall, including the National Coil Coating Association (NCCA) Fall Technical Meeting in St. Louis (October 2-3), and the Adhesive & Sealant Convention (ASC) Fall Conference & Expo in Louisville, Ky. (October 21-23). Bertram will talk on Kingspan's "Path to Net Zero" at the NCCA meeting, offering insight into the manufacturer's recently mandated Net Zero Energy policy for its global operations, as well as its first-of-its-kind, ISO-compliant, UL-certified Environmental Product Declaration. Bertram's presentation will identify challenges, incentives and advanced strategies for a Net Zero Energy policy for manufacturing facilities. "A Specifier's Perspective on LEED v4" will be the topic for Paul's presentation at the ASC Convention, where he will discuss upcoming changes to the 2013 rating system, including proposed refinements of the Materials & Resources category. As an expert in specifications and outgoing president of the Construction Specifications Institute (CSI), Paul will provide insight into how LEED v4, scheduled to take effect in June 2013, will affect the design of green buildings. In related news, Kingspan was named by the U.S. Department of Energy as one of five U.S. companies making commitments to "improving energy intensity by 25 percent over ten years." (Energy intensity is an economic indicator measuring energy efficiency, calculated as a ratio of energy units to units of GDP.)
