PROPINK EcoTouch R-20 Insulation

Owens Corning

November 12, 2013

Energy codes continue to be upgraded across the country with all but two climate zones now requiring R-20 insulation in 2-by-6 wall cavities. To help builders and contractors easily and cost-effectively achieve this new performance standard, Owens Corning has added an R-20 offering to its PROPINK EcoTouch insulation portfolio. The professional-grade R-20 offering delivers all the industry-leading thermal and acoustical performance benefits of Owens Corning’s award-winning EcoTouch insulation in a code-compliant and convenient in-stock product.

“Owens Corning is the first major manufacturer to offer an in-stock product designed specifically to address new energy codes requiring R-20 insulation,” explained Chris Koons, product manager for batt and roll insulation with Owens Corning Insulation Systems. “This strategic addition to our PROPINK EcoTouch insulation contractor line helps trade professionals to easily meet the new code requirements with an R-20 insulation product specifically designed for a 5½” wall cavity.”

Offered unfaced or with kraft facing, Owens Corning’s new R-20 PROPINK EcoTouch insulation delivers high-performance and sustainability. Featuring a formaldehyde-free formulation made of 99 percent natural materials, it is soft to the touch, making for easy handling and faster installation. It also features excellent stiffness and recovery characteristics and can easily be cut and split for insulating small spaces and odd shaped cavities. These performance attributes help to efficiently install to RESNET Grade 1 quality on every job, and meet the quality insulation installation (QII) requirements for California.

Including a minimum of 58 percent total recycled content, PROPINK EcoTouch insulation enables builders to achieve energy-efficiency and green building certifications including: the Environmental Protection Agency’s ENERGY STAR Home program, the National Association of Home Builders’ National Green Building Standard, and the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED program. Furthermore, EcoTouch insulation has been recognized with GREENGUARD Gold Certification (formerly GREENGUARD Children & Schools Certification) for indoor air quality, and is the only fiberglass insulation product listed in the USDA BioPreferred Catalog.

“The introduction of R-20 PROPINK EcoTouch insulation reinforces our commitment to providing our customers with efficient, sustainable insulation solutions that help them succeed,” added Koons.
