Hundreds of Texas homeowners will reap the benefits of healthier indoor air quality, thanks to a new agreement between CertainTeed and homebuilder InTown Homes. North America’s leading brand of building products and the award-winning developer have partnered to feature AirRenew M2Tech IAQ Gypsum Board in new homes located in the Houston, Dallas and Austin areas. Already committed to constructing homes with impressive energy-efficient features, InTown Homes saw the volatile organic compound (VOC)-scavenging drywall as the best way to offer improved indoor air quality (IAQ) in their newest developments.

“We feel that our attention to our core construction philosophy of ‘Smart. Healthy. Green Living,’ along with unique architecture, helps our homes stand apart from the competition,” says Burdette Huffman, vice president of InTown Homes. “We strive to practice leading construction methods by using cutting edge products, which makes AirRenew a great match for us, helping us realize the ‘Healthy’ part of our new home philosophy.”

InTown Homes brings premier, luxe architectural design and amenity-rich urban living to vibrant neighborhoods. In addition to the AirRenew partnership, InTown Homes makes healthier air and “green living” a priority in other ways as well, as shown by building one of the largest residential geothermal developments in the United States. Each one of their new homes features a ‘Smart,’ system to control a variety of things in the home such as security, HVAC and lighting.

“With our new collaboration, healthier air comes with each beautiful new home design,” says Steve Hawkins, vice president of sales for CertainTeed Gypsum. “And homeowners will have additional peace of mind well after they move in, because AirRenew continues to help remove unwanted chemicals from the air for years after a construction job is complete.”

AirRenew features exclusive technology that actively helps to clean indoor air by capturing VOCs, specifically formaldehyde and other aldehydes, and converting them into inert compounds. M2Tech technology also provides moisture and mold resistance to further contribute to a better indoor environment and a sustainable home in residential construction and remodeling projects. It handles the same as regular gypsum board and does not require special tools to install or finish.
