California Drywall, one of the largest specialty contractors in California, has been selected as the 2014 California Specialty Contractor of the Year by Engineering News-Record (ENR), the preeminent publication for the construction and engineering industry. The Specialty Contractor of the Year award is given to a subcontractor that is listed on ENR California’s regional Top Specialty Contractors List published each fall. ENR editors chose California Drywall based on its revenue performance, innovative construction and business practices, commitment to safety, and community involvement.

“It is a tremendous honor to be recognized as the California Specialty Contractor of the Year by ENR,” said California Drywall President Steve Eckstrom. “We strive to be the best in every aspect of what we do and this is a testament to everyone's hard work, dedication, and to the incredible achievements we have experienced over the past few years.”

California Drywall employs more than 500 people in Northern California, and has a roster of impressive projects in the region, including the CPMC Van Ness and Geary Campus, a 740,000 square foot, 274 patient bed, acute care hospital and Levi’s Stadium which was completed earlier this year.

Other notable current and recent projects include Lumina, Santa Clara Gateway, Shriram Center for Bioengineering & Chemical Engineering, 340 Fremont, San Francisco Airport Terminal 3, BAHA’s Regional Agency Headquarters Facility, 75 Hawthorne, Synopsis Headquarters, Crossing 900,  Riverbed Technologies Headquarters, and Foundry Square III.

The ENR recognition comes on the heels of a long list of recent accolades for California Drywall. Earlier this year, the company’s Bing Concert Hall project received the Association of the Wall and Ceiling Industry’s (AWCI) 2014 Excellence in Construction Quality Award and ENR’s Best of the Best in the country in the Specialty Contracting category.
