Closed-cell Spray Foam

Demilec

Heatlok XT closed-cell spray foam insulation increases the sustainability of this high-performing product, which now contains more than 20 percent renewable and recycled content. The product’s winter formulation can be sprayed at temperatures as low as 10 degrees Fahrenheit. In addition to boosting the product’s eco-friendly attributes and cold-climate temperature range, sprayability has been increased to save time with a 2 inch-on-2 inch application. In ASTM-E-84 testing, the standard test method for surface burning characteristics of building materials, the XT formulation scored a zero in fire resistance and flame spread—meaning that it completely inhibited a flame’s ability to spread from one surface to another. For more information, visit demilecusa.com.

Mineral Wool Insulation

Thermafiber

UltraBatt is a residential and light commercial insulation batt. It is engineered to provide thermal comfort, fire protection and sound control all in one product. In exterior walls, it conserves energy with an R-15 in 2x4 construction and R-23 in 2x6 walls. The product is made with 70 percent pre-consumer recycled content and is fire resistant to temperatures over 2,000 degrees Fahrenheit. Sound control is very desirable in interior walls, floors, ceilings and multi-family construction. The dense insulation is an exceptional sound insulation providing an STC rating of 30 in 2x4 wall assemblies, with a single layer of gypsum board on both sides.

Mineral Wool Insulation

Johns Manville

The company’s mineral wool insulation offers a variety of performance benefits in both commercial and residential construction. With a high melting point in excess of 2,000 degrees Fahrenheit, mineral wool can help delay fire spread, create quieter buildings and homes, increase privacy between rooms and reduce heating and cooling costs by keeping structures warm in winter and cool in summer. The line of mineral wool products includes TempControl Batts and Sound & Fire Block Batts. For more information, visit jm.com.

Thermal Performing CI System

Sto Corp.

StoTherm ci XPS is a fully-tested, highly energy-efficient continuous insulation system providing air and water tightness and long-lasting thermal performance and durability.  The system incorporates StoGuard fluid-applied air and moisture barrier and Dow Styrofoam Panel Core 20 Insulation, which provides strong thermal performance with an R-value of 5.0 per 1-inch. This high-performance wall system helps lower energy costs and reduces the carbon footprint of buildings. The product offers various aesthetic choices due to a wide range of decorative and protective finishes available in many colors. For more information, visit stocorp.com.

Water-blown Closed-cell Insulation

Icynene

ProSeal Eco is a 100-percent water-blown closed-cell spray foam insulation. With no synthetic blowing agent, the product is a smarter replacement for those seeking a more environmentally responsible option. The insulation has significantly expanded the possibilities of commercial wall assembly applications and can be sprayed at low temperatures (5 degrees Fahrenheit) allowing construction to continue on schedule. Learn more by visiting icynene.com.

CI Exterior Insulation

Dow Building Solutions

Dow Building Solutions is announcing a new product attribute Thermax XArmor ci Exterior Insulation in North America. The offering boasts a strong embossed exterior foil facer and with Dow’s interactive design tool for commercial walls, architects will be able to create customizable exterior continuous insulation assemblies. Optimizing Thermax XArmor will:

  • Ease the design process of virtually any wall assembly in any commercial building type
  • Make it easier for architects to meet continuous insulation codes from IBC and ASHRAE for energy efficiency and pass fire tests from NFPA 285
  • Contributes to LEED points in the Material and Resources, Energy and Atmosphere and Indoor Environmental Quality sections

For more information, visit building.dow.com.

HFR-free Foam Insulation

Kingspan Insulated Panels

IPN-Nano is an extraordinary high-endurance foam insulation material for the building envelope, which is safe, environmentally responsible and thermally efficient. This insulation is also the first to be free of halogenated flame retardants. IPN-Nano is literally at the core of Kingspan’s insulated metal panel designs, which places it at the heart of the company’s EnvelopeFirst design strategy; the first step towards achieving a Net Zero energy building. The insulation enables design professionals to design envelope systems that have a unique combination of unrivaled thermal performance, lifetime durability, resilience and service life.

Hybrid Insulation System

CertainTeed Insulation

Hybrid Insulation System brings together three insulation products to create a cost-effective way to provide a thermally superior, airtight seal around the home. By utilizing CertaSpray Closed Cell Foam Insulation, OPTIMA Blow-In Insulation and MemBrain Smart Vapor Retarder & Air Barrier, it achieves a high R-value, air resistance and moisture control. The system eliminates unwanted hot or cold spots in the home, improves acoustic control and reduces energy consumption and moisture infiltration. Its thermal performance extends to complex cavities and other hard-to-reach, often-unprotected areas where leakage can occur, such as around wires, pipes and other fixtures. In addition, the insulation will not settle over time, ensuring long-lasting energy efficiency. For more information, visit certainteed.com/insulation.

Rigid Foam Insulation

Owens Corning

Foamular Extruded Polystyrene (XPS) rigid foam insulation products deliver a wide range of high performance insulation solutions. The moisture resistance and thermal insulating capabilities provide a solution for thermal bridging and allow Foamular  XPS to retain its long-term R-value. The product is easy to install and XPS foam is certified to meet the GreenGuard Gold Certification program’s indoor air quality standards. For more information, visit highperformancebuildingexchange.com.

Reflective Insulation

Environmentally Safe Products Inc.

Initially sold for use in pole barns, ESP Low-E is light weight, easy-to-install and manufactured using a polyethylene foam core with reinforced double-sided aluminum facings. The product can be used in all facets of the building industry where conventional insulations are used. It can be used alone or in conjunction with mass insulations for high r-systems. From large commercial buildings to residential homes, ESP Low-E insulation can be used in a variety of applications to improve the energy efficiency of your building saving money on heating and cooling costs.
