The Steel Joist Institute (SJI) has announced its upcoming webinar “Joists 101: Steel Joists and Joist Girders” on Wednesday, September 19 from 11:00 a.m.-12:15 p.m. EDT, followed by a 15-minute Q&A session.

This webinar will cover many topics on the design and specification of steel joists and Joist Girders. We will discuss many of the required elements which must be considered for the effective use of the product, including special design considerations which allows for greater flexiblity. The session will also detail the responsibility of the design professional when specifying steel joists and Joist Girders. This understanding will provide designers, specifiers, and engineers more options and capabilities required for efficient and economical designs. There will be something for everyone in this webinar.

During this course, presenters will review:

• An introduction to open web steel joists and Joist Girders
• Applications for steel joists and Joist Girders
• Current SJI specifications and their use in designing structures for supporting steel joists and Joist Girders.
• How to specify a steel joist and Joist Girders for flexibility and economy.
