CertainTeed, a leading North American brand of building materials, today announced the availability of a new family of acoustical suspension systems, EZ Stab. CertainTeed worked with contractors and field installers around the country to overhaul its line of acoustical suspension systems. The resulting new EZ Stab acoustical suspension systems offer innovations that result in greater installation flexibility and speed, along with maximum strength and superior torsional rigidity.
“The current labor shortage is one the of greatest challenges facing the construction industry,” said Carmen Bodden, Vice President and General Manager, Ceilings, for CertainTeed. “Therefore, labor efficiency is extremely important and has a major impact on a contractor’s bottom line. We wanted to learn what more we could do to provide installers with easy-to-use products that exceed expectations. That’s why we talked to contractors and field installers around the country before redesigning our line of acoustical grid ceiling products. These product innovations are the result of years of research, development and collaboration with product and field experts.”
Comprised of five re-engineered product families, the new generation of EZ Stab acoustical suspension systems includes 9/16 ̋ EZ Stab Elite Narrow System, 15/16 ̋ EZ Stab Classic System, 15/16 ̋ EZ Stab Classic Aluminum Capped System, 15/16 ̋ EZ Stab Classic Environmental System, and 15/16 ̋ EZ Stab Cleanroom System.
CertainTeed’s patented Latitude Holes™ are exclusive to the new acoustical suspension systems. Latitude Holes are spaced every three inches at the top of each tee to allow for more flexible hanger wire options and increased installation speed. Additionally, a redesigned EZ Clip™ allows for lower insertion force and easier removability after installation, without destroying the clip or slot. This adds to the product’s longevity.
Two rows of enhanced continuous stitching create maximum strength and torsional rigidity, while wider slots make it easier for installers to work at a distance. Additionally, on 9/16 ̋ products, centering tabs keep trim edge panels positioned within the opening so there are no gaps around the edges.
