Makita Goes Live at World of Concrete 2022

Makita booth features more battery-powered equipment and tools for concrete contractors

Makita WOC
January 21, 2022

Makita U.S.A., Inc. went live this week at World of Concrete in Las Vegas with an expansive and interactive booth in the new Diamond Lot outdoor exhibit area.

Makita is presenting a full range of cordless solutions to replace gas-powered and corded tools products, with battery-powered tools and equipment that combine top performance with lower noise, less vibration and improved dust extraction.

Two Cordless Systems, More Solutions for Contractors

World of Concrete is the industry’s largest annual trade show for concrete contractors, and as a longtime exhibitor Makita will once again draw a crowd with 20+ hands-on demonstrations and displays featuring two cordless systems: 18V | 36V LXT, and 40V | 80V XGT. New XGT releases are a point of focus with new solutions that take cordless into spaces where, until now, cords and gasoline have been the go-to power source.

The XGT System: 50+ Tools and Equipment (and more on the way)

“XGT is the industry’s most powerful cordless system, and it runs on batteries with a compact form factor. This is a major advantage for contractors,” said Wayne Hart, senior communications manager, Makita U.S.A.

“It’s been just 9 months since its launch, and today the expanding XGT System offers over 50 40-volt and 80-volt max cordless tools and equipment. XGT users get a complete system, from core solutions like drills and impact drivers to demolition hammers, power cutters, rotary hammers, and more. XGT is engineered to outpower, outsmart, and outlast the rest.”

The Makita booth offers WOC attendees the opportunity to experience more solutions for nearly every stage in concrete construction. Below is a summary of Makita highlights at WOC 2022.

NEW 80V max (40V max X2) XGT® 14” Power Cutter (GEC01)

The new 14-inch power cutter is a battery-powered solution and an alternative to gas-powered models so there’s lower noise, less maintenance, zero emissions and no pull cord hassles. The GEC01 has a full 5” of cutting capacity, with more cutting power than comparable gas power cutters.

COMING SOON IN 2022

NEW 40V max XGT® 8.0Ah Battery (BL4080F)

This highest-capacity XGT battery supports the XGT commitment to create cordless options to equipment traditionally powered by cords, gas or compressed air. It is ideal for XGT equipment-grade product like the new 14” Power Cutter (GEC01).

COMING SOON IN 2022

NEW 40V max XGT® D-Handle 1-1/8” Rotary Hammer (GRH07)

A D-handle 1-1/8” rotary hammer is a go-to solution for contractors, and now they have a cordless option within the XGT system. It features Anti-Vibration Technology (AVT®), an internal counterbalance system that works together with the vibration-absorbing handles to reduce vibration. It’s also equipped with Active Feedback Sensing Technology (AFT®), which electronically turns off the motor if rotation of the bit is suddenly forced to a stop. It delivers more impact energy and faster drilling than comparable corded models.

COMING SOON IN 2022

Additional points of focus include XGT and LXT cordless solutions for concrete demolition, drilling and surfacing, as well as rebar tying and cutting, formwork, measurement, and fastening. Makita will also feature premium accessories for drilling and cutting.

80V max (40V max X2) XGT® 28 lb. AVT Demo Hammer (GMH02)

XGT is taking cordless into spaces dominated by cords and gas, and here's an example: The XGT 28 lb. AVT Demolition Hammer (GMH02) is powered by two 40V max batteries and an 80V brushless motor for a full 27.5 Joules of impact energy – more than a comparable corded model. It’s equipped with Anti-Vibration Technology (AVT) for significantly less vibration with no compromise in performance. Contractors now have a new cordless option for chipping, breaking, scraping, and even digging with a spade bit.

40V max XGT® 15 lb. AVT Demo Hammer (GMH01)

A 15 lb. Demo Hammer is a go-to solution for light-duty chipping, and XGT gives contractors a powerful cordless option for this common application. The GMH01 delivers up to 20% faster breaking than a comparable corded model. It’s equipped with Anti-Vibration Technology (AVT) for significantly less vibration with no compromise in performance.

80V max (40V max X2) XGT® 2” AVT Rotary Hammer (GRH06)

The XGT 2” Rotary Hammer is a true corded replacement: it has more impact energy (21.4 Joules) and provides up to 27% faster concrete drilling than comparable corded models. It’s equipped with Anti-Vibration Technology (AVT) for significantly less vibration with no compromise in performance.

40V max XGT® 10-1/4” Rear Handle Circular Saw (GSR02)

Formwork often takes contractors away from traditional power sources, and Makita is offering more cordless solutions for this phase of construction. The GSR02 has a 10-1/4” blade and a full 3-3/4” cutting capacity – it will cut a 4x in a single pass. The efficient brushless motor delivers up to 150 cuts in 4x SPF lumber on a single charge of an XGT 40V max battery.

40V max XGT® 7-1/4” Rear Handle Circular Saw (GSR01)

Makita broke new ground in 2017 with the world’s first cordless 7-1/4” rear handle circular saw – and Makita is extending this leadership with the 40V max XGT model GSR01. It has a 7-1/4” blade, a full 2-9/16” cutting capacity, and will cut 3x material in a single pass.

40V max XGT Mid-Torque Square Drive Impact Wrench (GWT08)
Makita goes deep in the fastening category, and the GWT08 combines high-torque with precision features and lower weight. It delivers a full 810 ft.lbs. of nut-busting torque and 560 ft.lbs. of fastening torque. Precision features include 4 speed settings and Auto Stop Forward Mode for increased efficiency when setting anchors, and Auto Stop Reverse Mode to prevent fastener damage and run-off of bolt nuts. At just 6 lbs., it’s ideal for a range of fastening applications including tilt-up brace anchoring.

Premium Accessories: 3-Cutter SDS-PLUS Bits

Makita’s premium line of carbide bits include 3-cutter bits for efficient drilling in reinforced and un-reinforced concrete. They are engineered for faster drilling, rounder holes, and more efficient material removal than commonly-used 4-cutter bits.

Premium Accessories: Rebar Cutting SDS-PLUS Bits

Drilling through rebar is a time-consuming task, and Makita rebar cutting bits feature an alternating cutter teeth design for faster drilling. The reliable drilling/cutting performance allows contractors to cut through rebar in concrete instead of re-locating the hole: a big time saver.

Premium Diamond Blades: Makita’s expanded range of premium diamond blades feature a new bond formulation and increased segment heights (from 7mm to 13mm) for faster cuts and longer performance life. The new premium diamond blades will be in use at hands-on demonstrations in related applications throughout the Makita booth.
