Makita U.S.A., Inc. has released the 18V LXT Brushless Barrel-Grip Jigsaw, offering faster cutting speeds and a lightweight design.

“The new 18V LXT Brushless Barrel-Grip Jigsaw is another great addition to our expanding cordless woodworking tools,” said Rudy Jansen, product marketing manager for residential construction at Makita U.S.A., Inc. “Like its D-Handle counterpart, this barrel-grip design maintains a lightweight ergonomic design while its Makita-built brushless motor offers fast cutting speeds.”

Precision and Power

The new barrel-grip jigsaw combines precision and power with the efficiency of a brushless motor in a compact design. The jigsaw is engineered to deliver the power and performance of a corded jigsaw but without the hassles of a cord. It is ideal for professional woodworkers, cabinetry makers, specialized residential construction workers and any professional contractor seeking a best-in-class cordless jigsaw. The jigsaw features an ergonomically designed barrel grip, which is closer to the work surface for more precise cuts.

Better Control and Faster Cutting Speeds

The jigsaw has three orbital settings plus straight cutting for faster and more accurate cuts in a variety of materials. The variable five-speed control dial (800-3,000 strokes per minute) enables the user to match the speed of the tool to the application. In addition, the efficient brushless motor is electronically controlled to optimize battery energy use for up to 50 percent longer runtime per charge than similar non-brushless tools. Electronic controls efficiently use battery energy to match the changing demands of the application for increased power and speed when needed. And since there are no carbon brushes, the brushless motor runs cooler and more efficiently for longer life.

Convenience Features

Convenience features include a “tool-less” blade change system that allows for faster blade installation and removal, an on/off button with a separate lock button for workpiece protection, and dual LED lights to illuminate the work area. The base bevels and locks from 0 to 45 degrees left or right for more precise bevel cuts. It weighs only 5 pounds with an 18V LXT 5 ampere-hour battery (sold separately).

Makita LXT System

The new 18V LXT Brushless Barrel-Grip Jigsaw is part of the LXT System, the world’s largest cordless tool system powered by 18V batteries with 325+ products in one system. The LXT System includes an expansive range of 18V and 36V mowers, trimmers, blowers, chain saws and more, as well as a comprehensive range of cordless tools, vacuums, lighting, radios, heated jackets and more – all powered by fast-charging 18V LXT batteries.
