In a dynamic episode of Dear Anna on the “If Walls Could Talk” podcast, Jill Bloom, publisher of Walls & Ceilings and Roofing Contractor, talks with AI expert Anna Anderson, CEO of Art Unlimited, and tech-savvy contractor Josey Parks, CEO of Roof Fix. Together, they discussed the rapidly growing role of artificial intelligence in the construction and home improvement industries—especially roofing and wall contracting.

AI for Impact: How to Harness Its Power Today

Industry leaders Jill Bloom, Anna Anderson, and Josey Parks explore how AI is rapidly transforming the construction and roofing industries, from automating customer interactions to streamlining operations and sales. They emphasize that contractors who adopt AI tools now—like chatbots, CRMs, and lead-matching platforms—will gain a major competitive edge over those relying on outdated systems.

Josey Parks, whose background spans nearly two decades in the construction industry, explained how he evolved from a door-to-door salesperson using pen and paper to founding a tech-enabled company and an AI platform called Think Unlimited. His AI platform, which matches the right rep to the right lead, has helped contractors generate more than $10 billion in potential revenue. Parks stressed the transformative power of AI in streamlining everything from scheduling and quoting to follow-ups and CRM updates.

Anderson emphasized the widespread integration of AI across all sectors, noting that around 80% of companies now use AI in some form. She described the shift from traditional B2B and B2C models toward a new era of agent-to-agent (A2A) or customer-to-agent (C2A) interactions, where intelligent systems help tailor personalized experiences at scale.

The discussion also covered the importance of choosing the right AI tools—ChatGPT, Gemini, Grok, and Microsoft Copilot among them—and combining their unique strengths rather than relying on a single platform. Parks and Anderson shared insights on how businesses can integrate AI thoughtfully, with a focus on security, governance, and employee training. Parks even described an internal competition at Roof Fix that rewarded departments for developing useful AI solutions, with the production team creating a chatbot that now handles tasks like sending invoices and scheduling updates.

Looking ahead, both experts predicted that AI would only become more embedded in everyday operations. They urged contractors to begin experimenting now—whether by optimizing customer communication or using AI to analyze team performance. Early adopters, they argue, will widen the gap between themselves and companies still using outdated systems.
