The ICAA Convention & Trade Show is your one-stop shop to learn, network, and discover the latest insulation industry products and services from the best in the business. Every year, ICAA builds an educational program based on attendee feedback and timely industry trends, including sessions that run the gamut from business operations to building science. The star of the show, however, is the accompanying trade show, which features a lineup of the insulation industry’s leading suppliers and manufacturers. The event takes place Oct. 8-11, at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.

Check the ICAA Convention webpage: insulate.org/convention frequently for updates and details as they are released.

Last year, W&C attended the event in Chicago, where it was introduced to several insualtion contractors.

Among those, it was introduced and profiled Idaho's G&G Insulation.

Founded on hard work, honesty and dependability by Glenn & Grant Farmer in 1951, G&G Insulation has remained a respected name in Idaho insulation for several decades.

Now owned and operated by Brandon and Whitney Gallegos, G&G continues to deliver high-quality products and services to the Greater Treasure Valley and Magic Valley regions. They strive to carry on the solid reputation of the G&G name through excellent workmanship on every single project.

The insulation contractor services residential and commercial accounts and installs thermal and acoustical insulation, as well as firestopping.

G&G Insulation started in 1951, and the new runners gained ownership 14 years ago, in 2010.

According to its principal, Brandon Gallegos, he became involved in the business as a summer job out of high school. Now, more than 32 years later, he is co-owner of the company.

The Idaho-based contractor is a member of ICAA, NICE, SRVBCA, MVBA and NAHB.

“In addition to commercial work, [we are involved with] custom homes,” Gallegos says. “I would say our niche services are in the custom home market, working with the customer/contractor to address their areas of concern and work towards their goals of the home, whether that’s energy efficiency, a custom wine cellar or sound concerns.”

Since Gallegos took over the business, has there been a lot of growth? Definitely, Gallegos says, adding that he became co-owner of the company at the downside of the Great Recession, in 2010.

Gallegos reports that the company is down a little in its market(s), but is also coming off a record-breaking year.

How has the current construction climate been in the region and for the company? “It’s been a strong market,” Gallegos says. “It’s changed since the Boise market was put on the map after coming out of COVID. Regional and national contractors have moved into the market that weren’t here before.”

What is the most interesting aspect of this job for Gallegos? Gallegos says he likes to take all the pieces, putting them together and making it all work out. On the flipside to that, what’s really challenging for him is material management.

Going into the fall retrofit market, the rest-of-the-year work outlook is looking at an upswing.

Gallegos says G&G Insulation’s long-term goals have remained consistent—to have consistent, profitable growth.

The company works with several different types of insulation, including fiberglass, mineral wool and rigid boards.
