U.S. Secretary of Labor Lori Chavez-DeRemer released the following statement in response to the September 2025 Employment Situation Report:
“Propelled by robust private-sector hiring, the U.S. economy added 119,000 jobs in September—more than double what analysts had projected. This encouraging report should have been available seven weeks earlier, but Democrats chose to force a government shutdown for political purposes. Despite ongoing efforts to obstruct President Trump, he continues to deliver an economy operating at full strength. Job growth and annual wage gains exceeded expectations, labor force participation is rising, and long-term unemployment has declined.
“These results show how strong the economy was heading into the shutdown and underscore the effectiveness of this Administration’s America First economic policies when Washington is free from partisan gridlock. We anticipate continued momentum as the President’s full economic agenda is implemented, including the historic Working Family Tax Cuts and the significant investments he has secured to reindustrialize the United States.”
