Simpson Strong-Tie continued its longstanding partnership with Habitat for Humanity International by supporting the 2026 Jimmy & Rosalynn Carter Work Project through financial contributions, product donations and employee volunteerism.

Held May 3-8 in Atlanta, the annual event celebrated several significant milestones, including the 50th anniversary of Habitat for Humanity International, the 50th anniversary of President Jimmy Carter’s presidency, and the 40th Carter Work Project. The event also marked the first return to Carter’s home state of Georgia since 1988.

Over five days, approximately 2,500 volunteers helped advance construction at Langston Park, Atlanta Habitat for Humanity’s 68-unit master-planned community in the city’s historic Sylvan Hills neighborhood. Volunteers raised walls for 10 single-family homes and completed interior work on 14 townhomes designed to provide affordable homeownership opportunities for local families.

“Habitat for Humanity has spent 50 years working toward a world where everyone has a safe, decent place to call home, and this is a vision we know we cannot achieve alone,” said Jonathan Reckford, CEO of Habitat for Humanity International. “As we mark the 40th Jimmy & Rosalynn Carter Work Project, we not only honor the Carters’ extraordinary legacy of service, but also celebrate what becomes possible when people from all walks of life come together with a shared purpose.”

Simpson Strong-Tie served as a Roof Raiser sponsor for the event through a combination of monetary and product donations. In addition, 10 employees from the company’s McKinney, Texas, facility traveled to Atlanta to volunteer onsite during the weeklong build.

“It was a rewarding and humbling experience to be part of such a large-scale, well-organized event,” said Britt Richey, senior national account manager for Simpson Strong-Tie. “Simpson is fortunate to partner with Habitat for Humanity International.”

The company has supported Habitat for Humanity International as a national sponsor since 2007 and has contributed more than $2.8 million in cash and products during that time. The partnership reflects the company’s “Give Back” corporate value and its commitment to strengthening communities through affordable housing initiatives.

Sidebar: BNP MEDIA's Role in the 2005 Jimmy Carter Work Project

Long before the 2026 build in Atlanta, BNP MEDIA, the owner of Walls & Ceilings and numerous construction-industry media brands, played a direct role in one of Habitat for Humanity’s most ambitious Carter Work Projects.

In 2005, BNP MEDIA sponsored a Habitat for Humanity home during the Jimmy Carter Work Project in Detroit, where former President Jimmy Carter and former First Lady Rosalynn Carter joined thousands of volunteers to build affordable housing. Media brands within BNP MEDIA’s Architecture & Construction and Plumbing groups, including W&C, helped raise funds to sponsor a home, while employees volunteered onsite during the week-long effort.

The 2005 project transformed neighborhoods in Detroit and Benton Harbor, Mich., as well as Windsor, Ontario, helping build hundreds of homes for families in need. The Detroit build alone included more than 30 homes and attracted volunteers from across North America.

Following the event, dozens of BNP MEDIA employees worked on the company-sponsored House No. 20, one of 31 homes dedicated during the Detroit build. The completed home was provided to a local family through Habitat for Humanity’s affordable homeownership program.

The project highlighted the construction industry’s ability to unite manufacturers, media organizations, contractors and volunteers around a common goal: expanding access to safe, affordable housing. More than two decades later, that spirit continues through ongoing industry participation in Habitat for Humanity’s Jimmy & Rosalynn Carter Work Project. As the owner of W&C, BNP Media remains committed to supporting initiatives that bring together the roofing and broader construction communities in the service of affordable housing and neighborhood revitalization.
