Sawgrass Crash Spills Drywall, Closes Lanes Fast
Truck crash spills drywall on Sawgrass Expressway, closing lanes and causing major delays.

A crash involving a tractor-trailer and a dump truck on the Sawgrass Expressway in Broward County scattered drywall across the roadway and forced lane closures early June 11. The incident was first reported by Briana Trujillo and Johanna Torres for NBC South Florida.
The crash occurred around 2:20 a.m. in the southbound lanes near Sample Road, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Investigators said the tractor-trailer rear-ended a dump truck, causing the tractor-trailer to strike a concrete barrier wall. The impact caused the truck to lose its load of drywall, which spilled across the roadway.
No injuries were reported, and no one was transported to a hospital, officials said.
The debris forced the closure of all southbound lanes while crews worked to clear the drywall and remove sections of the damaged barrier wall that had entered the roadway.
As emergency crews responded to the scene, two northbound lanes were also shut down, creating traffic disruptions in both directions.
