Eco Health Data announced the launch of The EPD Registry (www.theepedregistry.com) a global database of Environmental Product Declarations. EPD’s are documents which describe the potential environmental impact of a product throughout its entire life-cycle.

The EPD Registry provides design and construction professionals with a single source for EPD’s from manufacturers in the U.S. and Internationally.

“Many product manufacturers have begun releasing EPD’s to meet the growing desire for product transparency. However, finding those EPD’s can be very time consuming,” says Eda Clausen, Principal at Eco Health Data. “The EPD Registry simplifies the search process while providing manufacturers with a central repository in which to list their EPD’s.”

The Growing Role of EPD’s in Sustainable Design

According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration, U.S. residential and commercial buildings account for approximately 41 percent of all energy consumption (more than the entire transportation industry) and 72 percent of electricity usage. Buildings—and the products used to construct those buildings—can generate substantial carbon emissions, which can lead to undesirable and irreversible climate change.

Design and construction professionals play a critical role in enhancing the energy efficiency and sustainability of the built environment. To assist in this effort, they’re turning to EPD’s to evaluate and compare the environmental impact of the building products they specify and install. Learn more about EPD’s.

Listing Products in The EPD Registry

While AEC professionals can search The EPD Registry for free, Eco Health Data charges manufacturers an annual fee to list products in The EPD Registry. Each listing features company contact information, a product description, product image and links to EPD's as well as other sustainability documentation.
