Superior Walls Brings Precast Concrete Foundations to Alberta

April 8, 2015

Following a successful launch in late 2014, Superior Walls Alberta has now completed more than three dozen precast concrete foundations for new construction projects throughout rural and metropolitan areas of Alberta.

Located in Claresholm, Alberta, Superior Walls Alberta employs 20 people and manufactures dependable precast concrete wall foundations for residential and commercial projects. The innovative wall systems are created in a factory-controlled environment and then installed in one day on the job site, so that builders can immediately begin construction.

“We provide a basement foundation in a day or less that is insulated and ready for drywall immediately,” said Frank Klaassen, vice president of business development for Superior Walls Alberta. “Every foundation is custom made for the exact needs of a project including electrical chases and openings for windows and doors. The beauty of this product is that our Xi wall systems speed up construction for builders while being energy efficient for homeowners, so everyone’s a winner!”

In 2012 the Canadian Construction Materials Centre declared that Superior Walls precast concrete insulated wall panels were evaluated for use in Canada.

“The Xi Walls system meets the demanding energy codes in Canada while helping create extra living space in the home,” said Klaassen. “We are especially grateful to Genesis Builder’s Group and Lifestyle Homes during this start-up process for their belief in, and support of, this new product in our marketplace.”

Xi wall panels feature steel reinforced concrete and 2½-inches of insulation to create a permanent barrier against sidewall water penetration. Unique features of the Xi wall panels include:

•Steel-reinforced top bond beams, concrete studs and footer beams

•Horizontal steel rebar inside top and bottom beams

•Vertical steel rebar inside each stud

•Access holes for ease in wiring and plumbing

•Galvanized steel stud facing ready for drywall finishing

•Insulated corners, studs and bond beams

“Our certified installation crew goes to each job site to install our precast wall panels,” said Klaassen. “Each panel is placed on either clean, crushed stone footings or a traditional concrete footing. The speed of installation makes this a cost-effective product for home construction. The end result is a dry, warm and extremely energy-efficient foundation system that adds value to the home and is superior to any product previously available in our area.”
