The Steel Joist Institute (SJI) is pleased to present the upcoming webinar “Bridging – How it Works and What to Work Around” on Wednesday, August 15 from 3:00-4:15 p.m. EDT, followed by a 15-minute Q&A session.

Steel joists provide excellent economy for vertical, in-plane loads, and the lateral support bracing system – bridging – is key to the performance of the steel joists. This webinar will explore bridging from two perspectives. First, presenters will cover how bridging works through types, roles, forces and specification criteria. Additionally, they will address what to work around, including challenges and solutions for bridging layout and installation.

The webinar will also cover the governing criteria for bridging spacing and sizing, drawing details and the realities of field installation for connections, as well as a bridging location conflicts such as working around sprinkler systems.
