Dear Anna: Is My Website Truly Accessible?

Not only does accessibility help with legal compliance, but it could also lead to increased lead generation

Dear Anna: Is My Website Truly Accessible?

Websites are critical for every business, including wall and ceiling contractors, to generate leads and direct customers to the services they need. However, websites aren’t easy to navigate for certain populations.

Dear Anna: Is My Website Truly Accessible?

Websites are a staple for any business, including wall and ceiling contractors, but there’s more to maintaining them than updating them with photos and sales offers. Anna Anderson, CEO of Art Unlimited, warns contractors that their sites may not be accessible and offers solutions on how to ensure they’re compliant.

“When we look at the statistics, 16 percent of the world has accessibility barriers that they need solved for them when they're engaging with a website,” said Anna Anderson, CEO of Art Unlimited. “Twelve percent of the U.S. population, in some level, has colorblindness issues, and so those are some big barriers that you need to make sure you cover for your website.”

In this episode of “Dear Anna,” Anderson discusses how contractors should examine their websites to ensure anyone seeking contractor services can use their site with ease, thereby leading to additional leads and jobs.

This can include turning to powerful tools using artificial intelligence to analyze sites and create experiences better suited for those with disabilities. Art Unlimited provides a free online tool that contractors can use to run a free audit on their website to check their compliance.

“One of the pieces that we've been finding is you easily cannot be compliant, and it doesn't mean that you're not doing great work with keeping your website up to date or making sure your content and images are properly optimized,” she said. “There's just subtle nuances that different people need, and legally, you're supposed to have this ability on your website.”
