Family Legacy Earns R.L. Reppert the 2025 Walls and Ceilings Leadership Award
Father-and-son team Richard Sr. and Jr. Reppert were honored for decades of quality work, employee commitment, and industry leadership that built R.L. Reppert into one of the nation’s top contractors.
In this episode of If Walls Could Talk, John Wyatt, editor of Walls and Ceilings and Group Publisher Jill Bloom spoke with Richard Sr. and Richard Jr. Reppert of R.L. Reppert, a family-run subcontracting company known for its craftsmanship in walls and ceilings.
From the beginning, the conversation was one of pride and reflection. Richard Jr. spoke about their recognition as one of the nation’s Top 50 Contractors for eight consecutive years. “Back when Dad started in 1973,” he explained, “it was about quality work, service, and taking care of employees. That hasn’t changed.”
The two men shared what set them apart: repeat business. Nearly 88% of their projects came from long-standing relationships, some dating back to the 1980s. For them, success wasn’t just drywall and deadlines—it was trust built over decades, and a deep commitment to their workforce.
They spoke of challenges too. The skilled labor shortage loomed large, as older employees with forty-plus years of service began to retire. Yet instead of despair, the Repperts leaned on mentorship, passing knowledge from veterans to the next generation.
When asked about projects, Richard Jr.’s eyes lit up. Two massive drywall undertakings lay ahead—multi-story buildings with more than a million square feet of work. “They’re fast-paced, high-coordination jobs,” he said. “The kind we thrive on.”
But the greatest surprise came from Jill Bloom. With a smile, she revealed that the father-and-son team were recipients of the 2025 Walls and Ceilings Leadership Award. The honor recognized not just their business success but their vision, integrity, and generosity in sharing knowledge.
Grateful, the Repperts reflected on a journey that began with a flyer spotted at a trade show in 2018, and had since grown into national recognition. “Hard work pays off,” Richard Jr. said simply.
We thank Georgia-Pacific for its sponsorship of this award to the Repperts.
