USG Sheetrock Brand UltraLight Tough Panels is now available across select U.S. markets. Lightweight drywall has changed construction efficiency when USG first introduced Sheetrock Brand UltraLight Panels in 2010, setting a new standard the industry quickly followed. Over time, varying performance across brands led to the perception that lighter boards could be less durable. The company's Sheetrock Brand UltraLight Tough Panels changes that narrative, combining the handling pros love with the durability they demand.

Here’s what makes UltraLight Tough different:

•    Durability: A proprietary formulation that delivers reinforced edges to reduce damage during transit, mushroomed edges from delivery, corner damage during handling and blowouts during installation. Improved score-and-snap for square cuts on the job, no rasping required.

•    Up to 12 percent lighter than standard lightweight 1/2-inch panels: minimizing wear and tear on equipment, fatigue and strain on crews – especially on ceilings and tall walls.

•    Tough from truck to finish: Panels hold up through every stage: loading, stocking, hanging and finishing, ultimately cutting down on waste, callbacks and rework.

•    Sustainability built in: Lighter boards mean more panels per truckload and fewer deliveries, reducing emissions and energy use without sacrificing strength.

•    Designed with pros, for pros: Contractor and finisher feedback guided the formulation. The result is a board that performs as tough as it feels.
