The U.S. Department of Labor has launched an online portal aimed at expanding artificial intelligence training through Registered Apprenticeship programs, officials announced during National Apprenticeship Week.

The AI in Registered Apprenticeship Innovation Portal is designed as a centralized resource for employers, educators and workforce groups seeking to incorporate AI skills into training programs. The site offers guidance on building AI literacy, developing industry-specific training and integrating AI into existing apprenticeship models.

“The department is committed to ensuring that every American has the opportunity to thrive in our nation's workforce, especially in a world that is rapidly being reshaped by artificial intelligence,” Acting Labor Secretary Keith Sonderling said.

The portal builds on the department’s AI Literacy Framework released earlier this year and highlights the role of AI skills in improving productivity and adaptability across industries.

Resources are organized into three areas: general AI literacy and training tools, industry-specific skill-building modules for sectors such as healthcare and manufacturing, and options for integrating AI into apprenticeship programs. These include joining existing programs, creating new AI-focused apprenticeships or updating current offerings.

Assistant Secretary for Employment and Training Henry Mack said the initiative is intended to help both employers and workers prepare for an AI-driven economy.

“By providing employers with the resources to develop AI-ready Registered Apprenticeship programs and workers with the skills to thrive in them, the Department is taking concrete action to build the workforce of the future,” Mack said.
